Kirsten Shu-ying Chen
Kirsten is a poet, writer and screenwriter with her MFA in Creative Writing from the New School.
In 2018, her poetry chapbook Light Changes in Space was a finalist for the Autumn House Press Chapbook Prize and the Tomaz Salamun Chapbook Prize. Her nonfiction has been shortlisted for the DISQUIET International Literary Prize and nominated by The Florida Review for Best of the Net 2018 anthology.
She founded the New York City artist collective “By the people” and has volunteered at the Ali Forney Center (AFC) for LGBTQ youth for several years, teaching a creative writing workshop at the Harlem drop-in center. Kirsten served on the board of the New School’s “Poetry & Politics” conference. She is currently shopping a comedy pilot about a mother and daughter navigating high school and the early days of a disabling disease.
